St. Michael's Weekly News - June

The Very Rev. Ed Howell

The Very Rev. Ed Howell

Dear People of St. Michaels,

Please join me in welcoming our new Dean of the Russian River Deanery, The Very Rev. Ed Howell! Father Ed will be with us this Sunday, preaching and presiding at St. Michaels (I will still be present as well.) He is also coming to Trinity Lutheran this Sunday to preach: he wants to know both our congregations and how this Shared Ministry amongst us is going. Ed is a retired priest, so he wanted and is able to have the time to get to visit each of the congregations in the Deanery he has oversight of. He is a previous Board of Trustees member and has served at several of our parishes, including Incarnation in Santa Rosa, Ascension in Vallejo, and St. Patrick’s in Kenwood. He most recently worked with Good Shepherd Episcopal in Cloverdale. I think you will enjoy meeting him, hearing him preach and greeting him after the service, this Sunday, June 26. We will have an expanded Coffee Hour this Sunday as well.

The following Sunday, July 3rd, we will not have a service at St. Michaels, but instead will have an Outdoor Shared Ministry Service at 10:00 am up at Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by a BBQ picnic lunch together also at Trinity. We had a joyful time anchoring this event last year here at St. Michaels on July 4th. We hope to do this again, only it is now Trinity’s turn! (we will host an outdoor service and BBQ or potluck toward the end of August at St. Michaels) To make this event complete, we need people from both churches to sign up and bring items of food to share. We will have the clipboard signup sheet at church on Sunday and it will be on the Ministry Table in Larsen Hall during the week. We hope you can remember to come on July 3rd at 10 am and sign up to be part of this Holiday Weekend event. We will have folding chairs set up from Trinity, but of course, you can bring your own chairs to the outdoor worship service as well.

In Christ,

Pastor Randy Knutson +

McLaren. It takes us through a whole year of Bible reading and reflection that mirrors the Church year. Contact Pastor Randy for the zoom link or come to St. Veronica’s at 10:30 am on Thursdays. Book purchase is recommended if you wish to come regularly, since we discuss the content in the short chapters as well.
